Pakistan Telecommunication Authority  (PTA) have decided to suspend Internet services in highly sensitive areas after suspension of mobile services in many districts across Pakistan, local TV reports.
Reports say that internet services will remain suspended on 10th of Moharram or 24th October 2015 due to security reasons.
Cities that may face this blackout situation could be Karachi, Islamabad and Lahore. There may be others cities too.Â
Time frame for closure of internet service is not yet told but we are expecting that these will remain suspended till 10PM in these cities.
Main reason for internet service suspension is the use of internet powered apps like Viber, Whatsapp that allows voice calling from one phone to another by use of internet.Â
If reports are to be believed then it will be the first time in the history of the country that internet services gets suspended during month of Moharram.
