Gmail Now Helps You Find the Right Email Faster

Known for its many features, the Gmail app for Android is getting another helpful option for its users. In addition to Google Gemini’s AI capabilities, Gmail is now working to enhance email search with new sorting criteria.

Artem Russakovskii, the founder of Android Police, reported that Google has begun implementing new search criteria. The new policy is enabling users to arrange emails by “most recent” or “most relevant.”

Screenshots of the functionality were also shared by him.

This feature was previously found by Assemble Debug, an Android Authority contributor, during an APK breakdown in late October.

Some users would have to wait for the functionality to show up on their devices, while others can immediately access the new filters. As suggested by the progressive release, this new feature can be activated by a server-side update.

The “Top results” area, which once showed pertinent emails at the top and other results in reverse chronological order, has been replaced by this new option. Under the carousel of available options (Labels, From, To, Attachment, Date, Is unread, and Exclude calendar updates), users will now notice a filter button.

By tapping it, users can now select the “Most recent” or “Most relevant” emails from a menu, which makes it simpler to locate particular emails based on personal preferences.

A quick pop-up will be provided by Gmail to introduce the new filters when the feature is enabled. While the functionality is still in its early stages of development, some users have already noticed these filters in Gmail’s web version, suggesting that a more widespread release for mobile apps may be imminent.
