X Rival Bluesky Gains 700,000 Users Within a Week

Over 700,000 new members have joined Bluesky, a decentralized social network that competes with X and Threads, in the last week.

The majority of the app’s 14.5 million users are from the United States. Momentarily, Bluesky is the second most downloaded free social networking app on the US App Store after Meta’s Threads. This demonstrates how American consumers are searching for alternatives to Elon Musk’s X.

According to Taylor Lorenz, Threads has come under fire for engagement bait, moderation problems, and new disinformation concerns, despite having over 275 million monthly users. As a result, more people are looking for substitute platforms like Bluesky.

In recent weeks, Bluesky has grown significantly. The platform declared that it had 13 million users on October 24. After X’s contentious move to permit blocked users to access postings from their blockers, this growth picked up speed. In a single day, Bluesky claimed a spike of 500,000 new users.

The popularity of Bluesky’s may have been altered by the presidential election of US as well. While some users, like Taylor Swift fans, are escaping because of the rise in hate speech on X, many people are looking for alternatives to Elon Musk’s services.

To improve the experience of the users, Bluesky has been making constant improvements to its features. Direct messaging features, video support, and pinned posts are recent additions. Users may also follow well-chosen beginning packs and personalize their feeds on the platform to immediately engage with well-known content producers.
