Fast internet: PTA decides to grant license to Starlink

The Pakistan Telecommunication Authority (PTA) has made a huge step toward boosting internet speed in the nation, with plans to provide a license to satellite internet startup Starlink of Elon Musk.

PTA officials claim that the decision to issue Starlink a license has been made in principle and that the only thing left to do is obtain security clearance. After this is finished, Starlink will formally receive a license to operate in Pakistan.

“Starlink’s license is ready, and only security clearance is pending,” PTA officials confirm.

It is expected that the launch of Starlink’s high-speed satellite internet service will significantly improve internet connection nationwide, particularly in rural and isolated locations where traditional broadband services are few or unreliable.

PTA representatives verified that in order for Starlink to offer its services in Pakistan, a business contract with the Space and Upper Atmosphere Research Commission would need to be signed. It will also be necessary to submit this agreement for approval to the PTA.

In less than a year, Starlink’s service is expected to debut in Pakistan, providing its people with dependable, fast satellite internet.
