PIA Air Hostess and Passengers Caught Smuggling Smartphones on Friday. Two significant operations were carried out by customs officers at the Lahore airport, during which they seized smartphones valued at millions of rupees from two passengers and an air hostess of Pakistani International Airlines (PIA).
PIA air hostess Nadia Batool was smuggling smartphones which included 30 iPhones., worth over Rs 11.2 million, seized from her after it was found that they were concealed on her person and in her possession. Additionally, it was discovered that the passengers Muhammad Arshad and Fariha Amin had cell phones in their luggage valued at Rs 5.5 million.
A case has been filed against the three people who were all arrested.
After an operation targeting air hostesses, PIA suspended the crew members of aircraft PK-204 from Dubai to Lahore. In response to the incident, the airline has enforced its rigorous policy against violations by staff members.
A representative of PIA verified to the bitter retribution that await any employee who violates the law. The airline confirmed that any sort of illegal activity will not be tolerated. Any staff member discovered to have carried out this sort of conduct will face harsh disciplinary action.
More than twenty iPhones were taken from a man entering at the Islamabad Airport by customs officials last month. Among these iPhones was the recently released iPhone 16 Pro Max, which retails in Pakistan for more than Rs. 500,000.
Recently, the new iPhone 16 Pro Max was seized by Pakistani customs agents. Passengers traveling from the United Arab Emirates had thirty of these devices seized.
Sources claim that a Quetta traveler was trying to sneak the phones with the assistance of customs officers. Still, other customs officers thwarted the scheme.
