The Pakistan Customs Enforcement Team seizes smuggled laptops and tablets worth over Rs 10 million under the pretense of scrap material.
The customs team of Leading Deputy Collector Maryam Jameela has examined a cargo consignment that had come from Dubai and had been fraudulently reported as scrap. After an in-depth examination, the team found that the package had been hiding 87 laptops and 18 tablets.
The estimated value of the confiscated products is over Rs. 1 million. According to the Customs Act of 1969, the Pakistan customs officials have confiscated the smuggled laptops and tablets and have begun appropriate legal proceedings.
Imran Sajjad Bukhari, the customs collector, reaffirmed to the media his team’s determination to stop smuggling operations. In an effort to bolster anti-smuggling measures, he further promised that actions against smugglers will be stepped up.
