Pakistan jumped 14 ranks in UN e-government Index 2024

Pakistan has jumped 14 spots in the E-Government Development Index (EGDI) to take the 136th rank, marking a notable improvement in the most recent UN E-Government ranks.

Prior to 2022, the nation was ranked 150, which indicates significant advancements in its e-governance capacities.

Pakistan is now listed among the top nations in the EGDI for the first time.

Apart from the general progress, Pakistan has also made progress, moving up to the 88th spot in the E-Participation Index.

In this measure, the nation was placed 106th just two years ago, but its e-participation value has since grown from 0.36 to 0.49.

Shaza Fatima, the Minister of State IT and Telecom, has shown appreciation to the Prime Minister for his unchanging support in the promotion of eGovernment strategy for the past two years. In addition, she also admitted the roles played inside Pakistan by the Ministry of IT and Telecom and the National Information Technology Board (NITB) in advancing e-government.

The improvement in Pakistan’s EGDI and E-Participation Index shows that the way its public services are provided shows that the country is still changing.

By the improvement in UN E-Government Index 2024 ranks, the nation’s efforts to promote digital accessibility, transparency, and citizen participation in governance are demonstrated.
