With the conclusion of its recent beta testing, WhatsApp has revealed that a new feature will soon be accessible to users through which users can plan events in group chats.
WhatsApp Users can now plan and share events within community right away by announcement groups by downloading the most recent Android update (version 2.24.20.34), which is available to a small number of beta testers.
The new feature, according to WABetaInfo reports, allows users to enter important information about events, like the date, time, and other pertinent details.
Community administrators would especially benefit from this simplified approach since it allows them to effectively distribute information to all community members without creating new sub-groups.
WhatsApp spokesperson said, “An event can encompass any scheduled activity, meeting, or gathering organized by users. This feature ensures that new members automatically receive information about upcoming events upon joining a community, enhancing their integration.”
The announcement groups will now function as a single hub where event details are easily accessible, marking a substantial improvement for community administration. Since only administrators are allowed to send messages in these groups, there is less chance that important information will get lost in the midst of other discussions.
Admins will also be able to reach a wide number of audiences more proficiently by using the sharing feature within announcement groups.
“This feature eradicates the need for creating the same event across multiple group chats, allowing for better organization and communication,” the spokesperson added.
It is expected that over the next few weeks, this functionality will be rolled out, giving more people access to improved community involvement. This change represents another step in Meta’s continued efforts to enhance user experience and promote efficient communication inside its platform as WhatsApp continues to evolve.
