IFA Berlin 2024 is quickly turning into a showcase for some of the wildest laptop designs known to humans as Lenovo is turning heads by introducing its new auto twist laptop. Bizarre idea laptops are nothing new to Lenovo.

The laptop is called Lenovo Auto Twist AI PC. It can open its lid automatically with a single button press or with the voice command if you are feeling especially extravagant. But it doesn’t end there. The laptop can also be turned into a tablet when needed as it’s a 2-in-1 device.

Its swivel hinges and webcam can also be used to take panoramic pictures, which is then put together with the help of AI. If the device is unattended, the lid closes automatically.

According to Jennifer Pattison Tuohy of The Verges, the Auto Twist AI PC responds to voice commands in a matter of seconds. She did, however, note that the motors are clunky and to carry out the task it requires about 10 seconds.

The Auto Twist AI PC twists automatically as the name implies. The display and the keyboard deck are attached by swivel hinge that lets you rotate the screen and lift it in a verity of ways. However, an AI assistant can move the hinge without having the need to use your hands. In truth you are telling your commanding your laptop to open and close and it responds.

In tablet mode, the screen of laptop opens up and twists 180 degrees and then lowers again. This means that even in tablet mode both your trackpad and your keyboard remain safe, and the bottom of the laptop is the only part that touches the surface below.

Jeff Witt, communication director of Lenovo said, “We’re still experimenting with that. A lot of these concepts don’t come to market, but you may see elements of them down the line. It’s got face tracking; it’s basically a video conferencing system built into a laptop. There’s a lot of accessibility potential.” We just hope it reaches the shelves in the near future.”

As no plans exist to produce it on large scale or commercially, hence without a doubt this is a concept device. Nevertheless, there is still a very slim chance that someday this will be produced as a consumer laptop as Lenovo has eventually bought a few of its absurd concept machine ideas. Just try not to get too excited.

Given the concept nature of the Twist AI, it makes sense that other details like what kind of hardware powers laptop are still not disclosed.

This technology might eventually find its way into other Lenovo laptops in the coming years even though the Lenovo Auto Twist AI PC is unlikely to be available to you just yet.
