Social Media Ban Reaches Islamabad Police Officers Too

For Islamabad police officers, the social media policy has been established by the Establishment Division. The notification stated that no police officer may speak publicly about their personal beliefs without first acquiring approval from the media.

Police officers are forbidden from capturing pictures or recordings in police uniforms, government vehicles, or government premises for personal use. Any of the police officers are not allowed to post anything on social media.

It is forbidden for federal police officers and workers to share their personal or religious opinions on social media. The public relations department of the Inspector General’s office will represent police activity.

A federal police officer or employee must get authorization from the Deputy Inspector (DI) or the IG office’s public relations before sharing any material on social media.

The officers of the offending unit will be held accountable and face disciplinary action if there is any infringement.

Following the similar social media restriction on police officials in Sindh, Punjab, and KP, this policy modification was implemented. Police personnel are now prohibited from posting anything on social media in specific areas. Particularly, when they are riding in official cars or wearing police uniforms.

Islamabad Police officers were prohibited from using TikTok and other social media sites early this year. Nevertheless, senior police authorities have issued another order prohibiting law enforcement personnel from using social media as a result of this directive’s noncompliance.
