Telecom Sector Faces Losses of Rs 350million on Weekly Basis

The Telecom sector is facing losses due to the nationwide crisis of the slow internet, impacting various economic sectors, including health, commerce, education, financial and banking, and the public sector.

The Telecom Operators Association (TOA) has appealed to Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif to look into this matter and resolve the ongoing slow internet crisis. Many other ongoing internet issues were also highlighted.

The chairman of the PTA revealed that Telecom sector has suffered the loss of PKR300 million over the last few days because of internet problems.

PTA chairman also explained that submarine cable consortium reported a fault in one of the cables which was disturbing the internet connectivity across the country.

The financial condition of the Telecom Sector was already decreasing and the current slow internet crisis has also had a great impact on it, the sector can also face a loss of about least 50 million rupees daily due to internet reduction which had caused the daily traffic to reduce to about  6,400 Terabytes.

Pakistan has the world’s 4th largest community of freelancers and because of the slow internet their work has been also disturbed and projects are delayed. The world’s largest platform marketplace for freelancers “Fiver” has changed the status for Pakistani freelancers to offline.
