On Aug 26 on Imam Hussain’s (RA) Chehlum, the Punjab Home Department has announced a mobile services suspension in ten districts of Punjab as a way to preserve peace and security. The services will be suspended from 5 AM to 11 PM, according to sources.

Furthermore, it will be limited to specific areas where huge religious meetings would take place. Rawalpindi, Jhang, Layyah, Sargodha, Bhakkar, Mianwali, Gujrat, Gujranwala, Chakwal, and Toba Tek Singh are among the impacted districts. It is relevant to note that big districts such as Lahore will continue to have working mobile services, decreasing disturbance to the general public.

Mobile service suspension during huge gatherings is a frequent approach to prevent misuse of communication services.

The decision to cease mobile services in particular areas was made to maintain law and order and to protect residents and ensure a smooth and secure commemoration of Imam Hussain’s (RA) Chehlum. On the request of the police, The Punjab Home Department has written to the Federal government.
