Russia aims to create core of space station by 2030

The agency officially announced its plans to launch the initial scientific and energy module in 2027.

Russia is planning to build the four-module core of their newly made orbital space station by 2030, the Roscomos space agency Russia stated on Tuesday.

The agency officially announced its plans to launch the initial scientific and energy module in 2027. Three modules will be added in 2030 and further two will be added between 2031 and 2033.

The development of new station was approved by Yuri Borisov, head of Roscomos, along with 19 directors of 19 enterprises.

Till now Russia has partnered with U.S and with many other countries on the space station, which is one of project where Russia still collaborates with U.S even after many various conditions worldwide.

“The new station will enable Russia to solve problems of scientific and technological development, national economy and national security that are not available on the Russian segment of the ISS due to technological limitations and the terms of international agreements”, Yuri Borisov said.
As the International Space Station is approaching the end of its operation life, Moscow also announced the build its own station and leave this participation before 2028.
