WhatsApp bringing Picture-in-Picture (PiP) mode for Android Users

WhatsApp is reportedly working on a new picture-in-picture (PiP) video feature only for the Andriod users, Earlier this year, the company said about testing new features and with high frequency at an event. The messaging App for iOS has received PiP support two months back whereas now it decides to bring on Andriod as well, according to WABetaInfo.

Due to this feature, the users will be able to see videos from Instagram or Youtube in a small window within the App, meanwhile, you can also go through messages or read chats. It means you don’t have to open Instagram or youtube to see the video sent by the contact. Whatsapp has recently submitted a new update Via Google play Beta Programme, which brings the version up to 2.18.234.

Further reports claim that the feature is still under development and is currently not available for use, it still has to go through from other improvements to become available for use. However, Reports also said the messaging app has been working from the past few months so that they can launch it till the next update.

When Picture-in-Picture feature becomes available, you will be presented with a white colored play icon that shows the video link which has been shared on the messaging app. After that, you have to tap on the icon and the video will open in a small window within the WhatsApp, too, Video can choose to pause, play, stop, or close, size of the window can also be changed.

Moreover, Instagram stories have not yet initiated to work on this mode and so their stories will not become available until further modifications. Plus there is no official comment about the release date of this new feature, but it is currently running in iOS so it should be available for Andriod soon.
