Earlier few days, Twitter suspended 70 million accounts over the past two months because of a crackdown malicious activity on their platform. From October 2017 the suspension rate become twice specifically in May and June, according to a report by The Washington Post.
Last month in a blog post Twitter said to improve its safety policies, “systems identified and challenged more than 9.9 million potentially spammy or automated accounts per week.”
Followed by the series of past events, Twitter’s monthly users count dropped by 1 million and continue to drop more because of Company’s crackdown on bots and spam. If we look at the metrics which are used to show the growth chart of the company, it falls from 336 million to 335 million in this quarter and Twitter anticipates it could drop “mid-single-digit millions” more in upcoming months.
The company noticed that some accounts rarely tweeted, so they theorize of them as the fake accounts which cause deliberate lose of real accounts in the purge. Getting rid of the Spam account is a good thing if you own such a huge platform, by maintaining check and balance also assures users about the company policy or to which extent it is safe to use the App.

Maybe it’s the bad luck for the company that they had been counting fake accounts as real one which raises questions on Twitter’s functioning also investors believe their active users are growing with more percentage of accounts. Twitter said that they are currently removing those accounts as fast as they can, it not only dropped the number but the fact that Twitter wiped out 10 million accounts.
Twitter highlights its time to time growth since the formation as they are going 11 percent up year by year but after the drop, the company needs a little bit of time to get on track and will surely make money by turning the profit for the Third Quarter.
