Pakistan Railways have launched e-ticketing services for select trains in an effort to facilitate to passengers in booking their seats online from the comfort of their home by internet.
This e-ticketing service have been introduced in collaboration with United Bank Limited (Pvt) Ltd. Pakistan Railways had tried to introduce the e-ticketing services in October 2007 in collaboration with Citibank.
However, the project lasted till January 2008 due to disagreement with the bank over a couple of clauses of the contract. Later on MCB showed interest in project but no development could be made until 2014 due to poor performance of railways.
E-ticketing facility have been introduced not only to facilitate passengers but it will also end black marketing of tickets in Pakistan Railways. said Khawaja Saad Rafique
Initially, the online system has been introduced for the railways flagship train ‘Green Line Express’, besides five rail cars. he added
The e-ticketing facility will be introduced for all passenger trains in the next eight months, he added
How to Book Ticket via E-Ticketing Services?
The process of booking is made quite simple for all the passengers. It consists of 3 steps given below
- Search
1st step is to Go to Pakistan Railways E-ticket Portal, Input data like date, train, station of departure and arrival and click search - Seat Selection
In 2nd step if you have a registered account at Pakistan Railways, You will be provided with details of train departure, classes of tickets and fares and seat availability as per train selection. - Payment
In 3rd step you have to pay for you bookings, you will be given 4 minutes to pay for your seats that you have reserved. Payment can be done via any Visa Card, MasterCard or by UBL Omni
