Re-verification of SIMs by Biometric Verification System (BVS) must be done before 26 February 2015 for which we are now sharing detailed guideline on the whole process of re-verification or transfer of ownership of SIMs.

Requirements:

Before we go further on detailed process we should know about things that may be required in these processes. These are

  • Original Computerised National Identity Card (CNIC)
    or NICOP
or Smart National Identity Card (SNIC)
  • Registered SIM of respective network
  • Information about number of SIMs

Check Number of Registered SIM:

It is important to know that maximum number of SIMs that a person can register against his/her CNIC is 5 for all cellular networks. If you already have 5 registered SIMs against your CNIC then you cannot own more than that. To find how many SIMs are registered against your CNIC, follow any one process below

  • SIM information Website
    or
  • Send CNIC number to 668
Both of these processes require CNIC without dashes.

Re-verification Process:

When you have above things ready, follow the process which is very straight forward and simple for re-verification.

  • Go to nearest Franchise, BVS Shop, Service Center
  • Provide respective SIM number with CNIC
  • Place Thumb on biometric device only ONCE for each SIM
  • You will receive confirmation SMS from about verified SIM
  • Provide Rs 10 only for each SIM re-verified
NOTE: Due to large number of re-verification being going country wide you may not receive confirmation immediately. Please wait up to a day or two to get confirmation SMS.

Ownership Transfer Process:

If you have a SIM that is registered against someone else which you know or not and want to transfer your SIM to your own ownership / name then follow this process below

1- If you know the person to whom your SIM is registered

  • Get a copy of CNIC of both members. Current owner and to whom SIM ownership is to be transferred (may be required)
  • Go to nearest Franchise, BVS Shop, Service Center
  • Tell representative that you want to transfer ownership of SIM
  • Representative will take permission from current owner of SIM
  • Transferee (the person who want to own SIM) will provide respective SIM number with CNIC number
  • Place the thumb of biometric device once for each SIM
  • Call 788 (not 789) and follow instructions to provide your CNIC number to customer representative
  • Transferee will receive confirmation SMS about successful transfer.
  • Provide Rs 10 only for each SIM transferred

2- If you do not know the person to whom your SIM is registered

  • Get a copy of your CNIC
  • Go to nearest Franchise, BVS Shop, Service Center
  • Tell representative that you have SIM that is registered against someone else which you don’t know
  • Provide respective SIM number with CNIC number
  • Place Thumb on biometric device once only for each SIM
  • Call 788 (not 789) and follow instructions to provide your CNIC number to customer representative
  • You will receive confirmation SMS about successful transfer
  • Provide Rs 10 only for each SIM registered

Confirmation Check:

After you have followed the process of re-verification, Send a blank SMS to 667 for ownership details of SIM that you are using. Sending SMS to 667 is free of cost.

If the person to whom your sim is registered currently and he/she is not in Pakistan, please follow the 2nd process of SIM ownership transfer. Those who have registered SIM’s and they are not in Pakistan must re-verify SIM’s by 26th February 2015 by NICOP otherwise you will lose ownership of it.

Remember last date for re-verification or transfer of SIM’s ownership is 26th February 2015. If you did not re-verify SIMs by biometric system, your SIM will be Blocked as PTA instructions.
